Defying gravity

Okay, these photos are of the orcas are the Shamu Dream show. There were so many photos so I have not posted them all. To see them all go to the album

Majestic, powerful, cunning, and beautiful

Breaching!

Classic show moment

Wow

Just awe inspiring isn't it? A creature that large has that much power to go completely around like that!

Spyhopping

I love orca flippers, paddles!

Part I

Part II

PWNZ!!

One of my goals in life is to not only swim with an orca and pet one but to also pet an orca tongue :D

Ickle baby is dancing through life and skimming the surface!

Big baby

A sense of doom! This photo should be accompanied by the JAWS music XD

They're fantastic photo's!!!!
We've not got anywhere like that here, best we've got is a couple of public aquariums that aren't really much good :-(

Not so sure about our coast, I think they'd mainly be off the west coast if anywhere...

Oh there's whales off the west coast but there are whales..and lots of dolphins...
You have bottlenose, risso, and white-beaked dolphins. You also have harbour porpoises, long finned pilot whales, minke whales, . A lot of these are Northumberland :)
You also have orcas! Bottlenose and orcas are everywhere! There's a few other species but those are the ones I found in my book, it doesn't really cover the UK in depth :P
The orcas, bottlenose, and risso I knew off the top of my head.

AWESOME PHOTOGRAPHY

I saw that show when I was little :) is it the same shamu or do they call them all shamu? lol and do you know why their dorsal fins flop like that?

Thank you!
The Dream show is new, you probably saw something very similar. This show has a silly Shamu song and they have you make a tail fin shape with your hands and chant 'Shamu Shamu!' while she swims around splashing you :D

The stage name for them all is Shamu but only the original was Shamu. THey have private names but it doesn't matter much for training since they use signals and such :)

I haven't read any new theories on the dorsal fin but the last time I did, which was a few years ago, they said that it could be because of the lack of space. Even though they have lots of space to swim considering what some ocean parks used to provide, it still isn't open ocean ya know? Could be just basic captivity.

Not really! I was in the handicap with mom (she needs it) up at the top of the first area where most people come into the arena. I just have a pretty good focus and zoom!
