Is it sad that this is in my top 100 list for things I wanted to happen in my lifetime? To have a life giant squid photographed\filmed? Well it is, I am now very happy!

Have you ever seen Peter Benchley's "The Beast" or read it? I always think about it when people mention giant squids (or krakens, aren't they the same thing?). Someone posted something about this on the forums I belong to a while ago, I think it was something with what they found during Hurricane Katrina or something, I wish I could find the post. But it was basically about finding all sorts of strange sea-life and stuff on cameras they had in the ocean that got disrupted during the storm.

Yup, that's one of my favorite Benchley books. I read it a billion times and I have the movie.
Yes, the Kraken was the squid, also sea serpants.

Yeah, for some reason I always think the kraken is different because it used to be a big symbol in cryptozoology and stuff and I was like "But they're real, they've proven them with dead carcasses!"

But yeah, I used to watch The Beast all the time when it was on TV on Sci-Fi and when it first was on TV on Channel 6 or whatever it was. I've never read the book though but I plan on it. He had another book that became a movie too, didn't he? I can never remember the name of it but I know I saw it when it was on.

Jaws ;)
I recommend you reading Beast and Jaws since they are both very different from the books. The books are MUCH more graphic.
I also recommend White Shark and The Girl of the Sea Of Cortez.
Hell, I love ALL his books. Micheal Crichton (sp?) is great too (Jurassic Park, Andromeda Strain, Sphere)

Now they just need to get their act together up at Loch Ness! :-)

I sent that link to my mate, he's another squid fan...

Indeed! Nessie for President! Err...of course she would have to move here and there would need to be an amendment passed so that people (er creatures) born outside the states can run.

I've seen them ;)
I have a large book on the giant squid; their history, their cryptozoology history, anatomy, ect.
I also have a big book on Cryptozoology that rules.

That is so awesome.. 20 feet, and kills its prey like a python. Coolness.
