Got any good recommendations for a good and affordable anti virus program? Anti spyware would be welcome as well. Mine blows, I want to try something else.

Also, my Gmail isn't working. I want my email! *grumbles*

Hmmmmmmmm I know you can find decent free ones online...Dan uses um...what does he use...I can't think of it right now, I will ask him. I think Norton? Maybe not I think he hates Norton, but he gets good ones for free...maybe he just downloads the programs from other people...
That sucks about your Gmail not working, but it could also be the Gmail server itself and not your computer...sometimes it doesn't work for me and my laptop is in tip top shape, thanks to Dan...;)

I despise Norton. I've googled some but I want some suggestions from people that have actually used them.

No, the Gmail isn't working because my anti-virus let a virus through and now my computer is in a coma. I'm on the laptop and my Gmail is working there. Woe :(

Thirded. The latest free version (version 8) is easier to find on downloads.com than on avg's own site.

Hey poppet!
I replied below agreeing with others, go with AVG Free. I've never had any issues with it. Like anything there's odd things it can miss at times, but on the whole it's one of the best I've found long term.

Having a bit of a quick read through people's LJ's today before we go out for a drive. Hopefully I'll start catching up and posting more often soon.

Well back when I was on Windows I used ClamWin antivirus, plus AdAware for adware and SpyBot SD for spyware. All free, all available online. We have a firewall on the router so I didn't maintain one on the computer.
