I got it a 20 gallon tank. I think in the summer I'm going to take the kiddie pool out for it to use a hour a day for fresh air and sun :)

We get plenty of tortoise friendly plants growing in my backyard so I'm very happy about that :)

Thanks for all your help!

If you put it in a kiddie pool, make sure it is not filled too tall...they don't swim well, they just like to sit for a little bit...you should consider making an outdoor enclosure for when it's warm...they would rather be outside then...:)

Ah I hear pool and think water...;)
You could get him one of those fencing things that are round for like rabbits and then he can be on the grass...he would love that I think...or she. You should get it sexed soon...:)
But they do love soaking in water. At the JR Center, we used one of those plastic dishes you put under a plastic plant pot, that catches all the dirt/water...very good...

I have one of those pens.
Why do I have to get it sexed?

I know, I soaked it the other day.

You don't have to get it sexed, but it's nice to know in case you ever got another one...:)
Plus tortoises have certain medical problems connected to gender, so it would help you in the long run...
Yea those pens are much better...the tortoise I worked with had a cute outdoor pen...he loved it...;)
We would soak him everyday, for like 20 minutes...:)

Also it's probably a good idea to check with local shelters to make sure someone isn't looking for it...Some people DO microchip their tortoises and you could get in legal trouble when you take him to the vet if someone owns him already...
Also make sure you take him to the vet since him being in the elements in the parking lot could have done something...it's always better to be safe than sorry...
