Alright no photos from the 15th.

We went shopping (again) on the 15th. I picked up a copy of The Day After Tomorrow for Ben. Well, it's for all of them but he's the one that loves the movie.
So after that, we headed back to the house for a few hours. I watched some cartoons with Dayna while Ben napped.

After that, we went out to dinner. I had some calamari. I usually hate that stuff, so chewy and icky but I liked theirs. Ben drove one of the cars home (he had to practice). Oh, before I forget, he passed last Friday :D

Anyway, after that the two of us settled down to watch The Day After Tomorrow. It was great, we used each other as pillows and since we've both seen the movie many times and we're both weather nerds, we basically broke down the movie and snarked at it. Hee!

After that he went online while I started to pack. He eventually went to bed and I went into my bed and read some of Half Blood Prince while texting back and forth with various people.
After about a half hour Ben knocks and tells me his can't sleep. Now, this is why this particular post is friend's only, I don't want certain people reading this.

We talked a little bit while I continued to text and I told him he could stay as long as he wants until he gets sleepy. So I lie down and he decided to join me in the bed. We lie together just talking and hehe eventually gets groggy but doesn't want to leave in case the walking wakes him back up. So I offer him the bed and I can sleep the floor on the on couch in the living room. Well he doesn't want that, we're cousins and we're close so why not? So we shared the bed that night, under the covers. Perfectly innocent but I didn't dare mention it in front of Adam if I ever saw him because he would find it freakish. He did find out and he did call it freakish, called me a freak and Ben told me he called him up to bitch at him (this was a few days ago).

Well, Ben got up before me and woke me up so we could eat breakfast together. I'm glad it wasn't awkward since it was purely innocent.
I wasn't hungry yet so I sat with him while he had breakfast (rice). His mom came down and we all chatted. Ben spotted a spider and started to kinda freak out. He was talking about killing it and his mom goes "spiders kill mosquitoes". Heh, he got a cup and paper and started to brace himself and got the spider in the cup. He was freaking out over the size and I ask him to see it. Well, I didn't tell him that he was carrying a poisonous hobo spider. I don't think he would have liked to hear that while he was carrying it. He released it in the yard and came back in.

It came time for him to head to math camp so we said our goodbye's (we were leaving that day). It was sad, I knew I wouldn't see him for at least four months. The next time I see him will probably be November when they come down here for the unveiling of Grandma's marker. So I was getting kind of teary and he gave me one of his really tight hugs. Mom told me later his hug for her wasn't as tight, hehe made me feel loved :P

I have french toast with my aunt and wait for my mom to come downstairs. My aunt gets to talking and when she starts it's hard for her to stop. We wanted to get out by 10...it was after 11 when we finally headed out. We stopped at Dutch Brothers for coffee and headed out.

We took the coastal route even though we knew it would take much longer to get home. Takes about a hour to get to the coast and we head south. We stopped in a small town for a bite to eat and I see this half sunken boat that I just had to get a picture of. Then we started driving again.

We stopped for the night in Eureka, California (I got a picture of the "Welcome To California" sign!).

The next morning we start to head out. I want to go to to the Northern California coast so we take a small road. It goes through this adorable old style town and we take a road past some farms (cows and horses again, actually got shots of them from that). I saw some vultures, most likely turkey vultures. We also saw a doe in a field grazing. We stopped the car and I tried to get out very quietly but she heard me. I got two shots of her when she was bounding into the forest.

We get to a beach and I take some photos.

On the drive back we see two baby deer!!!! They are just wandering around the road so we have to stop. I take advantage of this by taking a lot of photos of them. I wanted to go out and pet one but I know better ;)
we think the doe that bounded away was their mum, I hope they found her! Probably did. We saw this farmhouse that was destroyed, took a photo of that haha.

Then we're on the road again. We go through Humboldt Country State Redwood Forest, wee!!! REDWOODS!!!! It was gorgeous driving through those trees and we stopped at various points for me to take photos. I was wearing sandels so I was extra cautious of the poison ivy. I took a forest path and walked along it for a few minutes (we really were in a rush) and enjoyed the sounds and smells. We found a patch of berries with a sign from the Park Service saying they were edible. So mom tries one...way too sour. I don't even bother trying hehe. My camera battery started to flash but I knew if I were careful, it would last until we got home. Usually the drive taking the coastal route is three days, but we planned on heading inland around San Fransisco so it would take a little less.
We stopped at a tourist trap, the only one we stopped at! Had some redwood burl (growths of wood you are allowed to harvest) trinkets. It was in Bigfoot country, haha! I kept a lookout for Bigfoot but only saw a Bigfoot Xing sign and some wooden ones. I got a redwood necklace, some keychains (I collect keychains), and some other stuff. Yeah, we spent money at a tourist trap haha.
Then we stopped at Avenue Of The Giants which is a 25 mile stretch of road going through redwood forest. We didn't take it the whole way but I got my fix and got some lovely shots if I do say so myself.

After that we headed out we stopped at a sign so I could read about the forest. I heard gunshots, about 5 of them. My mind flashed back to the doe and the two fawns back around Eureka. Kind of depressed me, ah well.

After that we started driving for home again. We took the junction in San Rafael (hi Kelli!). We had to go over the San Rafael Bridge and I saw San Fransisco from my window! Haha, I got way too excited about that considering I've been to that city quite a number of times xD

So we get stuck in terrible traffic between the 101 and the 5 (coastal and inland interstate highway). Suddenly it clears and we're on our way. We went through some 'high gust' areas and you could feel the car being jolted by high gusts. We stopped for dinner in the same place we stopped on the way up. At night I put the seat down and just looked at the stars through the window, so many stars! I saw the Bat Symbol and Alfred Hitchcock :P

We got home around 12am.

Now, before I post pictures I gotta share a story Ben told me. We saw Order of the Phoenix on the 12th. When we got home, Ben was letting the cat in and he said he saw a shadow of a human figure dash into the bushes. Well, we both go out (he's behind me, lol big brave boy) and I see a human shape across the street..just...standing there! Kinda like that scene in the original Halloween where Michael Myers is standing across the street before he comes to kill Lauri....!!!!
Um...so yeah, that thought was flashing through my mind so I grab him and yank him back in the house. We watch through the window...and then the shape is gone. O.O
He tells me about his friend. Three weeks prior (four weeks now), his friend was jogging in a park three minutes by car from Ben's place. A guy in a Scream mask comes running out of the trees brandishing a knife. A lady in a car pulls in front of her and says "get in!". They take photos with their phones while driving away and contact the police, they never found the guy. Well I got a bit freaked when he told me that...but the guy was gone. *shudder*
So I had to share that terror with you. Neither of us slept too quickly that night!

So..pictures!!! Most were taken from Eureka on but a few were taken the day we left.

Some sand dunes in Oregon

A scarily tall bridge...not the tallest bridge, but scary!

We had to cross it! ACK! XD

The half sunken boat I mentioned

Blurry redwoods, but I think it's a cool photo

It was around 1 or 2 but we had to put our headlights on because the giants blocked out a lot of the sun

I like this shot...

And this one!

As we're nearing Eureka we see Paul Bunyan!

Now, here's photos from the second day!

The adorable little town we went through to get to the coast.

Edible berries :D

I'm getting a vibe from the E.T. movie, when they land in the forest and then when Elliot goes to set up that thing.

San Rafael Bridge

San Fransisco! I made this B&W, looked better because of the fog. I know that's Frisco because of the pointy building...insurance building or bank or something but definitely a Frisco building :)

Last pic spam on the way! Animals!!!

*sigh* That is SO not what Bigfoot looks like. *grumblegrumble* I would have complained to the park people...but I'm weird like that and I'm sure they didn't make the sign, hahaha.

That San Rafael bridge scares me, it reminds me of the huge ass Bay Bridge to get to Ocean City that I always end up crossing during the night and having a panic attack.

Hehe, I know i was like "eh?". I'm a cryptozoology nerd so I read up on Bigfoot.

Not only that but this bridge has an upper and lower level and mom and I had to drive on the lower level! I kept thinking of earthquakes...the bridges hold up but..ack! D:

Yea it IS scary going on the lower level of the bridges...but see the San Rafael bridge is not the only double level bridge...there are a bunch of other bridges I hate crossing, haha...
But ever since that bridge in Minnesota crumbled, they are checking ALL the bridges in California...

I thought the first bridge looked insane until I got down to the San Rafael Bridge, bloody hell you wouldn't get me on that thing!

The bigfoot sign looks like Homer Simpson :-)

Yah, the first bridge was steep. The San Rafael Bridge was worse. There was an upper and lower deck and we were on the lower deck. I kept thinking of earthquakes when we were crossing it. Took 8 minutes!

I think the sign is based on this :P

Yeah, it crosses the bay, it's pretty long.
I like driving the Golden Gate Bridge...I like taking boat tours under it! It's so hard to get a good photo though, San Fransisco is always very foggy.

Just so you know, I was so thirsty last night I thought I was going to die but I was too afraid to go downstairs for fear of someone in a mask killing me...I even had nightmares about it. I get all freaked out at that because I live in the middle of nowhere and our kitchen has a huge open glass door. It's my biggest fear that someone will be waiting there in the middle of the night...though I know my dog would alert me.

Aw I went across the San Rafael bridge going north a few weeks ago for an interview! :P
I am across the bay, east, so not really "hi Kelli" hahahaha...;) I wish you had come by over here! That would have been cool...oh well someday when you go to Oregon on your own and bring Ben back or something, you guys can stop by for the night! :) I have an extra bedroom...;)
I was going to ask if that was the same sunken boat in Golden Beach, but then you posted it and I was like, "OOH it is!" :)
I remember Paul Bunyan and Babe! The last time I saw them I was like 14...I miss those guys...;)
WOW scary story...
