They were talking about the planet on the radio this morning as I drove into work, it's fantastic and fascinating but also a bit frustrating that it's so far away that we can't (yet) reach it to confirm the theories...

The new mineral is cool, just goes to show how much there really is still to discover about our own world :-)

It is frustrating. I want to meet hot alien men...well..not really. I just want it to be proven that there is intelligent life on other planets.

Reading about that makes me really want to see Spider-Man 3...even though it's not the same superhero...it isn't even the same comic company ^_^

yeah but they could have really freaky ways of having sex, like sticking something in your ear! :-D
I sit back and think how amazing it would be to finally make contact, then I think of how destructive we are as a species and can guess how badly we'd screw things up if we did...

We hired the first to spider-man films over the weekend, seen them before but decided to rent them again.. for some reason I couldn't remember the 2nd film at first, I think I must have been busy with something while the others watched it..

Haha, ew! That description reminded me of this nasty South Park episode...
Agreed. Hopefully if we do make contact, the aliens will take pity on our sad destructive ways and teach us how to help our planet.

I got both of them, saw them in theaters. I love Spider-Man, he's my favorite superhero ^_^

How were you guys this weekend?

Speaking of Aliens, I just picked up "The Last Starfighter" yesterday, I still remember seeing it in the cinema as a kid and being amazed at the computer graphics - nothing compared to films these days so I hope I don't think it sucks when I come to watch it!

Weird weekend, it was nice in that it was Harleys birthday, but we're still really down and depressed about the dog... Didn't do anything around the house, just couldnt find the motivation :-/

Bleh, I'm sorry about Odie -.-
Not a great thing to happen on your birthday :\

I've been sitting racking my brains for films from my childhood/teens that weren't huge blockbusters but that were still good... Berry Gordy's "The Last Dragon" came to mind too so I've got that (if you've not seen it, it's kind of like Karate Kid but even less believable!!!).

Sucks badly because Ali and I got Odie within a week of getting our first house and a full year before Danny was born so he was part of our family from the very start.. not sure at the minute whether we'll have another dog, maybe in time...

Can't help ya, I can name some of mine though hehe.

Blah, that really sucks. Makes me miss my Mr. Scrooge who I had until 2005 since I was 5.
In time maybe, no hurry on something like that.

I need to look through our dvd racks and start watching stuff, there's films in there that I've picked up and are still in their wrappers!

Yeah.. I sat on Dan's machine the other night and scanned in a load of old photo's, I'll get round to posting them maybe this coming weekend...

Based on the movie...the one with Bruce Campbell playing Ash, the guy with the chainsaw for a hand and the Book of the Dead.
Love that movie!

Thanks for the links! They were interesting.

Poor Carl Sagan would have loved to be alive at this time. That article makes me itching to read his book "Cosmos", but I can't because of homework. :(

The planet thing was sooo cool! Chris was checking email this morning and we read it together. I know, too bad we're nowhere near close to colonizing/searching for life/whatever but still, AWESOME!

They really should name that mineral Kryptonite - com'on, Jadarite? LAME. I love the guy being like "we need to careful since we don't want to lose Superman!"

You know, I'm really considering telling you to join the forums I belong to. They always have cool news and science stuff that a lot of times I think about you for and/or have read because you posted it. However, on the other hand they're all a bunch of elitist fucks sometimes.

Nah, I never read slashdot anymore. It's www.forumopolis.com formerly the PVP Forums.
