I don't know why I don't know this but I don't. Do I need to actually get a phone that Verizon carries? Can I go to Bestbuy and get something else and have them put Verizon on it? I ask because I think Verizon's phones are fugly. I got the Gleam because it had all that I wanted but my main attraction to it was it look like an early millenium flip phone to me, it was'nt so...ugly :P
I want a wider range of options when choosing a phone :P

I've got Verizon and my next phone is going to be a blackberry. Are you into that?

I think Blackberry phones are weird looking but I will look past the looks of the phone if it suits my needs (thankfully the Gleam did)

I don't recommend a Crackberry personally, I found it too fragile for my needs. I am really not rough at all with my phones, but mine spazzed out badly if you dropped it which happened occasionally, eventually it spazzed out so bad that it couldn't get a signal anywhere and I had to go back to my old phone.

You can get other phones, but you have to get an "unlocked" phone, which costs substantially more than the phone would with a service plan that covers it. Also, some options may or may not be available depending on the phone.

This is something you should probably ask Verizon themselves.

Seconded.

And I don't think you can buy them at like...Best Buy either. I think you have to buy them at special cell phone stores or online.

Your (not so) local Verizon customer service rep says that, unfortunately, only Verizon phones can be activated on Verizon service.

Get an LG VX-8350. Or an enV 2 (9100). Seriously, those are the best phones we have. Steer clear of Samsung and Motorola.

Oh, Blackberries are good too if you need an advanced device. But that's an extra $30 on top of your voice plan for e-mail and web, and it needs to have that feature to even activate at all.
