Earth Hour

It's Earth Hour today. To participate you turn off all your lights (computers, tv, etc as well) for one hour. From 8pm to 9pm your time. I'm taking part :)

Click here to learn more information.

I'm upset that Los Angeles isn't going to do it. San Francisco, Phoenix, and Chicago are though. Hopefully this city will take part for Earth Hour 2009...

I will turn off most of my computers, and all my tvs...but you know anything plugged it but off technically is sucking power, so you would need to unplug ALL those things as well as phone chargers to completely stop power....the desktop computer we can't turn off. We have things uploading and downloading and it would really fuck up our shit to turn it off...plus we won't be here at 9pm to turn it off...I have a birthday party to go to at 8 and won't be back until after midnight...but everything else will be off...oh except the porch light...:P
I'm just not going to be home, so it would be hard to completely do it for me.
But yea....

I don't know about Earth hour: I think it's helpful when large cities participate, though I sympathize with people who really need to do work. I don't know how much it helps for just me to do it. How much does it really save?

I think there's only so much we, the public, can do ourselves. Changes really has to happen on an industrial level and governmental level to curb global warming.

Very true, we have to pressure our governments and idustrial companies to change.
This won't hurt though, it's easy to do.

During Earth Hour this year we were at a steakhouse for a jujutsu dinner, couldn't really do much about that. "Yes, yes, I'll have my 18 hour steak well done, with extra fossil fuel please."
