I might need a new computer

So I'm annoyed. I let my brother use my computer the other week and ever since then it's been crapping out on me! I try to do a spy sweep and a virus sweep. it takes out some stuff but my computer is still being a piece of garbage. It's unbearably slow, some of the programs refuse to load (sometimes...last night iTunes didn't work and today it does). Worst of all? When i try to just relax with a computer game and not worry about how it's messed up, and if I press 'esc' to get out...sometimes I hear my computer drive just click off and my screen goes blue (OH NOES!!!). So yes, I can't find the source of what is basically killing my computer. I might need to just get a new computer which really bites since I only have $400 in the checking account, not enough for a desktop! Maybe I can put a down payment on it or something...but I'm trying to save for NYC! Every time I get some money for NYC something comes up where I need to spend that money! I'm going to check into finding a repair place but I'm also looking into a new computer and that is where you, my friends, come in. I need some suggestions. I need a computer with a good amount of memory since I have an insane amount of photos and songs. I'm also a gamer that likes games with good graphics so a good graphics and sound card is also important. High memory, good amount of space, good sound and graphics, card...basically a gamer, music, photo computer! I hate Dell so don't recommend one to me. I like HP quite a bit and I won't touch Gateway either. So...yeah, got any ideas? I'm willing to go for a laptop if it has my requirements of a desktop (and has a full keyboard and really clear screen). Not a Mac either, got nothing against Macs but I just don't want one.

I'm so pissed about this...

Current Location: mom's laptop
Current Mood: aggravated aggravated

Have you tried disc cleanup and defrag yet?

Also, try to get financed at Best Buy or another computer store if you can't afford a lump sum of a computer all at once. They usually have decent plans and I know even when I had bad credit like two years ago when I got my desktop my interest rate was still pretty decent with them.

Yep, did both things. It's funny, when I uninstalled Norton it's working a bit better. It's not fixed but at least I can access some stuff on my computer.

Well, I don't have a credit card, just my debit\ATM. Blah, I'd have to apply for one. I need to apply for one anyway so whatever xD

Well they have two options for credit at Best Buy, last I was there. I'm not totally sure of the difference. I think if you finance a computer or something you get a different type of credit than you would if you were just opening a credit card to buy video games and stuff.

Instead of spending money on another computer, go to Fry's Electronics and have the geeks technicians fix it--total waste of cash to waste on a new one. I remember you being so happy getting this computer. You just purchased that PC, so there shouldn't be anything major to fix, unless the motherboard was dying or something, which it doesn't sound like it. I had issues like that with one of my older PCs and got it fixed for $60.00. Honestly, I have better luck with home-built computers than supporting and buying pre-built computers.

Hope it gets worked out otherwise.

Odds are I am fixing it, I just like to know beforehand what kind of computer I might be interested in if I end up needing to replace it *knocks on wood*

You going to be on later?

Yay, TMI!

I'll try. I woke dipping with a heavy flow and white as snow... I had a horrible day with cramps where I lost all sense of consciousness because I was having child-birth-like pains again. Justin had just walked in from work, thankfully. I wouldn't have been able to get off the dang floor without him. I'm glad to be married to a guy who doesn't think monthly blood is gross.

It is all built up stress with how my past month been going... coming out throughout my health.

Re: Yay, TMI! +1!

I gave birth the other day to a mighty clot, it was disgusting and I named it Bubbah. Then I flushed Bubbah down the toilet since that's where he's supposed to go.
Right now I'm basking in the fact that my computer is working a wee bit better ever since I un-installed Norton. Norton SUCCCCCCCCKS.

Most computers now come with lots of memory, but just so you know you can always buy an external hard drive to store all your photos and music on. That's what I do and I feel a lot better about it since computer hard drives crap out a lot without notice.

Good luck, I had to make the same decision this week. I chose to get mine fixed and save some money (hopefully if the repair goes well)
